Erica il Cane “gipsy disagio” @ Fame 2012 from fame festival on Vimeo.

intense couple of weeks here at FAME, three artists at the same time and it was a hell of a mess. this is what happened with KING Erica il Cane. here’s my advice to all artists around, both new and old, watch him doing what he does, and how he does it, you wont get as good as he is, you wont end up painting such a huge wall in just two days, but at least you can take notes: have fun and dont think about the whole art world bullshit

arte morta

hello people on the internet!

Cyop & Kaf made their third visit to Fame festival, randomness got to very serious standards with them, we made three prints with glue and dirt, shitload of little paintings around town and a tshirt too (collaboration with sangue)

of course you didnt see anything like this around, this is pure quality

here there’s a short video summary of these days

cyop & kaf fame 2012 from fame festival on Vimeo.

latcha mclatcha

lucy mclauchlan joined fame from the very first year. she’s part of the family, she knows well the town, the ceramics, and speaks fluent dialect now. matt watkins made this video of her last trip to grottaglie

Interesni kazki

AEC – Interesni Kazki @ fame festival 2012 from fame festival on Vimeo.

for the past 12 days we’ve been fighting against an extreme amount of bad luck to make this painting happen:

the ucrainian artist AEC from Interesni kazki duo was here and he worked twice as hard because of all the inconventients we bumped into

we had a puncture and had to repair the tires of the lift, then it got stuck in the mud and we had to find a way to pull it outside to finally figure out, the next morning, that it wouldnt work anymore, at all and for no explainable reasons. it was a total mess, a bit more special then the usual, and for such a great mess, we had to make a very special painging, AEC made it

masta momix

MOMO @ Fame 2012 from fame festival on Vimeo.

Momo 2012 was way crazyer then momo 2011, this is what we’ve done in a few 40° days,

he’s using this new paint that moves on the wall, depending on the position of the sun, as if it was a shadow

some more mediterranean colors

and as if it was not enough, here it is! the weirdest painting in the weirdest spot ever in grottaglie. oh shit, he raised the bar again!

the following beauties are three of the prints we’ve been making at the studio

they’ll be released at the show opening on the 22nd of september, get in touch if you need infos on how to get here, accomodation and so on

telonious moneyless

moneyless fame 2012 from fame festival on Vimeo.

hello everybody, a quick update to show you what we’ve been doing with Moneyless a couple of weeks ago.
you ca watch it all in the video above, or in the pictures below.

a nice wall on a old abandoned place in town

Brad Downey and Akay were here

akay and brad downey from fame festival on Vimeo.

well well well, where do we start from, last time Brad and Akay were here for just a few days, this year we’ve had more time togheter, consequently, much more fun
the video above was made in a old abandoned shooting range, we all felt it belonged to that place.

the piece below is what the critic later described as the very famous cork cactus, friendly to birds and anybody else

these are taken from a boobs buffing flipbook

and this is a simple waterfall from a window, downtown

i say simple ’cause it only took us to find somebody crazy enough to drive such a thing in the narrowest streets ever

and simply say “all right” after seeing where the water was going

most of the other pieces they’ve done in town cant be showed here for obvious reasons, but this one has passed the test

and i’m sure that it would take ages to understand the difference between the first and the second picture

unless i show you this third one, this makes it all totally understandable

or not.

this is the last bit i’ll show you,

Climate Control from fame festival on Vimeo.

it’s what those rare rainy days in grottaglie make you do

anybody interested in seeing all the rest, you have three months to figure out how to move your ass and come down here for the opening in september

Conor says boom

Conor Harrington @ FAME 2012 from fame festival on Vimeo.

after two years spent struggling to digest all the food he ate back in ’08 and ’09, Conor Harrington came back to fame festival with the very same mission of the first two editions: eat and paint as much as possible. the video above is a sketch of the week he spent in town, i tried hard to find a song that would link with the strong aesthetic of his paintings but no luck, i ended up using one that matches perfectly with his personality, the sweetest dude in the world.

in the pictures below we can all stare at his works and ask ourselves how can he do it, these were made in the old town

now, let me arrogantly challenge you,  find me another public wall that have been painted so carefully, in the middle of the city, with a 95% broken lift with no insurance and without any kind of authorization from anybody and let me know. police even came by at some point, there are more and more question marks each time the two sides (fame and institutions) collides, but no answers so far, we’ll keep going

on another note, i’ll post soon about Brad Downey and Akay’s collaboration. they’ve already been here and we did a great mess, it’s just so great that it needs time to be edited and posted. soon

FAME 2012
